How to Make Fried Rice

Fried rice is a relatively easy dish to make at home. Here is a basic recipe for fried rice:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the eggs and scramble until cooked through. Remove the eggs from the pan and set aside.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, and carrot to the pan and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the frozen peas and carrots and cook for 2-3 minutes more, or until heated through.
  4. Add the cooked rice, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir-fry until the rice is heated through and evenly coated with the sauce, about 5 minutes.
  5. Return the scrambled eggs to the pan and stir to combine.
  6. Serve immediately.

Tips for Making Fried Rice

  • Use day-old rice for best results. Freshly cooked rice will be too sticky and won’t fry properly.
  • Make sure the pan is hot before adding the rice. This will help to prevent the rice from sticking.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan. If the pan is too crowded, the rice will steam instead of fry.
  • Use a high-quality soy sauce. Cheap soy sauce can be harsh and salty.
  • Add a squeeze of lime or lemon juice for a bright and refreshing flavor.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions, cilantro, or a fried egg.

Fried rice is a delicious and versatile dish that is easy to make at home. With a few simple ingredients and techniques, you can create a flavorful and satisfying meal that everyone will enjoy.
